Marisa personally understands how cancer can destroy families, having lost a close uncle to cancer when she was 12 years old. Even today, she describes her uncle’s death as one of the hardest times for her family.
Marisa studied topics like economics and accounting while attending college so that she could assist other people in making plans for their futures.
In her role with Mesothelioma Hope, Marisa uses her life experiences and past hardships to help people with mesothelioma access key resources and provide them with the courage they need to move forward.
Marisa prides herself on being easy to talk to. Her drive, knowledge, and experience make her an invaluable resource for mesothelioma patients and their families. Her work has also shaped her own worldview, giving her purpose and allowing her to see what really matters in life.

Marisa was born and has spent most of her life in El Paso, Texas, where she currently lives with her husband and family. She likes that it’s close to the border of Mexico, where she has many relatives.
