Chris Carberg

Founder of Mesothelioma Hope

Chris Carberg founded Mesothelioma Hope to provide individuals and families dealing with mesothelioma with helpful guidance and information emphasizing hope. Chris leads a team of skilled medical writers, web designers, and patient support strategists, all committed to make Mesothelioma Hope the most reliable mesothelioma cancer resource.

Chris Carberg’s Story

Even limited time is precious when a loved one is diagnosed with cancer. Chris’s father, John, was a United States Marine Corps (USMC) veteran who passed away in 2018 following a year-long battle with service-related cancer. However, Chris spent that year caring for his father as his health declined. The extra months he spent with his father before he passed made a world of difference to the Carberg family.

“I knew that we would create this website after I walked out of my father’s hospice on the day that he passed. I saw a beautiful sunset and found myself so grateful for even the limited time we were given. I wanted to share that appreciation with others fighting similar battles and help restore a sense of hope in their lives.”

– Chris, Founder of Mesothelioma Hope

His experience walking through his father’s illness inspired him to create a website that focused on helping families maximize their time together and give them hope as they walk through the challenges of a cancer diagnosis. Chris put together a team of talented and compassionate digital creators and multiple people with decades of experience helping patients with mesothelioma improve their quality of life. He loves being able to help people who are facing complex health challenges and give them hope and encouragement.

A History of Using Digital Communications to Raise Awareness

Beyond his work with MesotheliomaHope.com, Chris Carberg has been active in what he calls “Digital Health Advocacy” for over a decade. In 2016, he founded PostpartumDepression.org with his wife, Jenna, as an online resource about postpartum depression and mental health issues. From there, he launched EatingDisorderGuide.com, a haven for people battling different types of disordered eating, and then launched the flagship AddictionHelp.com, one of the fastest-growing behavioral health and recovery-centered websites as of 2023. Chris’s web properties having reached over 100,000,000 people in the past 10 years.

Chris Receives Recognition For His Long-Standing Advocacy

On September 9, 2023, Chris Carberg was awarded the Alan Reinstein Award at the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) 2023 conference in Washington, D.C., hosted at ALF-CIO. Chris was honored to receive the recognition from Linda Reinstein, a mesothelioma widow who co-founded ADAO and is one of Chris’s greatest inspirations for how we can turn our challenges into life-saving initiatives.

Chris’s Mission

Helping people access new treatments in development is one of Chris’s goals for 2024 and beyond. He researches medical journals to find new information to share with our community.

“We aim to point people toward solutions that lead to years of survival, but I believe that even a few extra months could feel like a lifetime. Every minute counts.”
