As an Oncology Social Worker and Mesothelioma Hope’s Support Group Moderator, Lindsey brings a wealth of experience to help patients and caregivers navigate mesothelioma with education, support, and dignity.

“Everyone is a unique individual with their own values and experiences, which should be honored when it comes to medical decision-making. Each patient has the right to know what to expect and to feel like they have the wheel throughout their cancer journey.”
– Lindsey Rotnem, MSW, Oncology Social Worker

Lindsey attended The Ohio State University in Columbus, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Social Work and graduated with her Master of Social Work. She’s a licensed independent social worker (LISW) and is currently working toward her Oncology Social Work Certification (OSW-C).

During her time at Ohio State, Lindsey completed internships at the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office, the National Kidney Foundation, and The James Cancer Hospital. She’s since held both inpatient and outpatient positions, helping patients through their health care journey across multiple areas. Specifically, she’s worked as a home visitor, virtual care manager, and health coach in addition to her experience in oncology social work.

Lindsey’s passion for helping others began at a young age, as she recognized how fortunate she was to have a supportive family and wanted to share that support with others. While Lindsey was in high school, she lost her grandmother to lymphoma. This inspired her to pursue a career in social work and later specialize in oncology and palliative care.

As the moderator for Mesothelioma Hope’s Virtual Support Group, Lindsey works to create a welcoming space for patients, families, and caregivers to share what they’re going through and find connection with others who are on a similar journey.

“In my role with Mesothelioma Hope, my goal is to provide a supportive atmosphere that allows patients to feel less isolated and provides coping skills to manage emotions surrounding diagnosis and dying.”

When she’s not supporting patients, Lindsey enjoys watching Ohio State football, traveling (particularly to ocean beach destinations), and spending time with her family.
