About Dr. Corey L. Langer

Dr. Corey J. Langer is a board-certified and award-winning oncologist with a special focus on the diagnosis and treatment of mesothelioma and lung cancer.

He mainly treats patients at Penn Medicine’s Abramson Cancer Center in Philadelphia, where he serves as Director of Thoracic Oncology. He is also a professor of medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine.

He’s spent more than 30 years perfecting his expertise in thoracic cancer diagnosis and tissue biopsy (a procedure to remove a small sample of tissue for examination under a microscope) and while also participating in cancer research.

Dr. Corey J. Langer’s Medical Background

Dr. Langer earned a combined bachelor’s degree and medical degree from Boston University in 1981.

He completed a residency in internal medicine at Graduate Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania from 1981 to 1984, which brought him to Philadelphia.

He then followed his residency with two fellowships in hematology and medical oncology, the first at the University of Pennsylvania Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and the second at Fox Chase Cancer Center.

Dr. Langer served as the Director of Thoracic Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center between 1986 and 2008. In 2008, Dr. Langer moved to Abramson Cancer Center at Penn Medicine, where he still practices today.
