Dr. Langer earned a combined bachelor’s degree and medical degree from Boston University in 1981. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Graduate Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania from 1981 to 1984.

He then followed his residency with two fellowships in hematology and medical oncology, the first at the University of Pennsylvania Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and the second at Fox Chase Cancer Center.

Dr. Langer served as the Director of Thoracic Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center between 1986 and 2008. In 2008, Dr. Langer moved to Abramson Cancer Center at Penn Medicine, where he still practices today.
